Controlled felling

Controlled tree felling, piece by piece

If a tree is dead, leaning or too close to the house, you don't bring it down in one go: you take it apart from the top, piece by piece, lowering each section on a rope.

When a tree has to come down

  • The tree is dead or the trunk is rotten.
  • It's leaning towards the house, the street or the pool.
  • The roots are lifting paving, walls or pipes.
  • A plot needs clearing for building work.

And when it doesn't: if the problem is a few branches, pruning is nearly always enough. We'll tell you honestly.

Controlled felling

How we do it

  1. 01

    We look

At the tree and what's underneath it.

  2. 02

    We climb

And take it apart from the crown down.

  3. 03

    We lower

    Every piece, on a rope.

  4. 04

    We clean up

We cut up, remove and sweep.

Do you need a permit?

It depends on the town and the tree: the species, its size and whether it stands on urban or forest land. Before we start we'll tell you if you need one, and help you apply for it.
